UC Synergetic is seeking a candidate for an entry-level Landscape Architect position to work in the Fort Mill, South Carolina office.  This position's primary responsibilities include assisting with the siting of electrical substations and transmission lines utilizing Geographic Information System technology; developing master site development plans, grading plans, landscape plans and specifications for various client projects; participating in the execution of visual impact assessment studies associated with proposed electrical facilities; developing plans to mitigate visual impact of electrical substations and transmission lines; and leading project permitting efforts before local agencies.  In addition to a resume and cover letter, candidates are asked to submit a portfolio showing examples of previously completed work. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to solve complex problems, with some supervision. Candidates are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.
  • Provide assistance in the siting of transmission lines and substations
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in the site analysis and preparation of site development and landscape designs, and sedimentation control measures to meet regulatory requirements
  • Development of planting plans which require selection of plant material to meet site specific requirements
  • Aid transmission line and substation engineering in earthwork design and the design of special architectural features as necessary
  • Development of standard landscape construction methods and details
  • Ensures company compliance with governmental regulations by monitoring restrictions affecting landscape design and construction
  • Prepares estimates and budgets for specific landscaping activities and monitors project costs
  • Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
  • Thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches
  • Continuous improvement of job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a BS in Landscape Architecture
  • Understanding of basic landscape architecture theories and principles
  • Understanding of basic practices of researching landscape architecture design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Good written and oral communication skills to assist with technical reports
  • Have a proficient understanding of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and the ability to learn and utilize a range of other design computer packages including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil 3D, ESRI ArcMap, and HydroCAD
