Nominations for Fellowship in ASLA

Dear NCASLA Member:

The NCASLA Fellows Committee (Chuck Flink, Paul Morris and Bill Flournoy) remains committed to providing the support to be nominated for Fellowship in ASLA.  A list of those NCASLA Members that meet the tenure requirements for nomination can be accessed on the NCASLA Web Site [http://ncasla.org/].   The deadline to be considered in 2011 has passed but now is the time to start planning and work for 2012 submittals.  To be nominated by the Chapter in 2012, please call or email a NCASLA Fellows Committee Member as soon as possible and begin the process to meet the following schedule: 

ASAP

  • Communicate your interest to us and meet or talk with a member of the committee.

TODAY

BEGIN PREPARATIONS!

  • Tell your story.  Set up a file of resumes, bios, articles, photographs, recognition by others
  • Go to ASLA.org and read the requirements for Fellowship. [http://www.asla.org/IndividualAward.aspx?id=4982]
  • Read the stories on the Council of Fellows in the ASLA Classes of 2007-2010 on the ASLA Web Site, sub category “Council of Fellows”.
  • Talk with other Fellows, any of the Fellows Committee Members, and colleagues in other fields. 
  • Obtain support from colleagues and friends that know you and your work/contributions to help you tell your story and help prepare your nomination.
  • In Washington, D.C. at the National meeting next September, members of the Council of Fellows will be available to assist candidates in becoming more informed.  We will have more details on this later in the year.

YEAR IN WHICH NOMINATION IS SOUGHT (2012)

2010

Outline information, document awards/recognition by the profession and community, identify individuals (peers, clients, friends and others) that provide testimonials to the category selected.

Select existing photographs that will accompany the nomination and/or identify photographs that are needed to illustrate the written message.

2011

1 February               First draft due to NCASLA Fellows Committee – form, bio, photos, draft   

March & April           Fellows Committee & applicant coordinate to complete the draft

May                        Fellows Committee submits to President of NCASLA

June                        Executive Committee reviews

July & August          If approved, Fellows Committee & nominee coordinate to fine tune

1 September            Nomination file/documents/photographs complete

2012

January/February      Submit Fellows nomination to ASLA

April - May               FASLA jury and notification

September 28 –        Annual Meeting Presentation, Phoenix, AZ
October 1
