Emerging Professionals Committee

MISSION The Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC) supports students and nascent professionals in the advancement of their careers in landscape architecture through networking, leadership, and professional development.

LEADERSHIP The Committee Chair(s) must be a member of ASLA at the early stage of their career. The chair will be responsible for running monthly one-hour-long coordination calls. These calls aim to brainstorm, initiate, plan, and execute the EPs events and activities with the collaboration and assistance of the rest of the EPC team. In addition, the committee chair is responsible for active outreach to a wide range of students and EPs to invite and encourage them to join the committee and future events and connect and partner with allied professionals EP teams for collaborated program development. EPC members will have this opportunity to choose the events of their interest and act as a leader for the event.

ASPIRATIONS • Provide opportunities for students and EPs to navigate their career path and their consistent advancement in the field • Create an environment for mentorship and sponsorship and facilitate peer mentorships • Prepare the students and EPs for leadership roles in the field of landscape architecture • Advocate for licensure and provide opportunities to make students and EPs ready for LARE exams • Empower the students and EPs voices and elevate their contributions to the field as the essential force for the future of the profession • Engage the students and EPs in the planning and decision-making process • Grant EPs scholarships and financial support for LARE exams and attending ASLA Conference
