2027 NCASLA Conference Theme

North Carolina is moving at unprecedented speed, and landscape architects sit directly at the intersection of our state's momentum, infrastructure, and community identity. We are thrilled to announce the theme for the upcoming NCASLA Annual Conference: "Growth in Motion: Designing Connected Places." Carrying forward national dialogues on industry momentum and physical movement, this year’s theme explores how we can harness North Carolina’s unique trajectory—blending the energy of regional transit investments and speedway heritage with site-scale placemaking, multi-use greenway networks, and sustainable development across the Charlotte region and communities statewide.

This 2027 NCASLA Call for Session Proposals seeks to CONNECT Landscape Architecture and celebrate growth. With an emphasis on Landscape Architecture as a leading STEM discipline, session topics should recognize the advancement of the industry, highlight progress in the profession, career development and/or business, showcase leadership in enterprise ventures, and focus on remarkable innovation in our field.

As the organization that represents the landscape architecture profession in the state of North Carolina, NCASLA’s mission is to advance the profession of landscape architecture in North Carolina through advocacy, communication, education, and fellowship. We invite landscape architects, academics, allied professionals, and vendors to the profession to submit proposals that fit this year’s conference theme.  Whether your work focuses on transit corridors, transit-oriented development, and multi-modal hubs (Motion & Mobility), cross-county trail linkages, active transportation, and ecological corridors (Connected Systems), or urban parks, civic plazas, adaptive reuse, and resilient infrastructure (Designing Places), we want your perspective. Educational sessions such as workshops, short courses, lectures, tutorials, and panel discussions are desired and will generally be limited to one hour. Lengthier deep dive sessions, workshops, or field sessions may be considered but will be broken up by regularly scheduled breaks. Multidisciplinary panel discussion sessions that address thematic issues are also encouraged. Up to 10 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) over multiple education tracks will be offered to attendees.
