The North Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (NCASLA) is issuing a Call for Proposals for 2024 NCSLA Conference on Landscape Architecture to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel & Resorts, Asheville, NC, June 5-7, 2024. We anticipate an attentive and energetic audience of over 200 attendees excited to examine this year’s theme:

ELEVATE | Scaling New Heights

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the City of Asheville is home to a rich history, known for its culture, creativity, and artistry, respected for its sense of community, celebrated for its forward-thinking, and recognized for its environmental stewardship. This is not dissimilar to the profession of Landscape Architecture.

This 2024 NCASLA Call for Proposals seeks to ELEVATE Landscape Architecture and celebrate achievements. With an emphasis on Landscape Architecture as a leading STEM discipline, session topics should recognize the growth of the industry, highlight advancement in professionalism, career development and/or business, showcase leadership in enterprise ventures, and focus on remarkable innovation in our field.

As the organization that represents the landscape architecture profession in the state of North Carolina, NCASLA’s mission is to advance the profession of landscape architecture in North Carolina through advocacy, communication, education, and fellowship. We invite landscape architects, academics, allied professionals, and vendors to the profession to submit proposals that fit this year’s conference theme.

Educational sessions such as workshops, field sessions, classroom sessions, and panel discussions are desired and will generally be limited to one hour. Lengthier deep dive sessions, workshops, or field sessions may be considered but will be broken up by regularly scheduled breaks. Multidisciplinary panel discussion sessions that address thematic issues are also encouraged.

The conference aims to provide the following educational opportunities, for up to ten (10) Continuing Education Units (CEUs):

  • Wednesday Afternoon: Optional Workshops, Optional Field Sessions, Welcome  Address, Exhibit Hall Hours

  •  Thursday: Keynote session(s), Breakout Sessions, Exhibit Hall Hours

  •  Friday Morning: Optional Field Sessions

Please submit your proposal via our online form HERE by midnight, January 12, 2024.

All educational sessions offered at the 2024 NCASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture will be approved through the North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects and with the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LACES). NCASLA will work with the presenter(s) to meet LACES requirements and will register the session on the national LA CES database. LA CES requires that all sessions be educational in nature and reinforce the learning objectives without the use of proprietary materials. Vendors' sessions will be reviewed carefully to ensure adequate academic content is provided.  Please note that honorariums, travel and/or lodging expenses will not be provided.
