PRESIDENT - ELECT

MEGAN FOY, QUNITY

Megan is a Landscape Architect at Equinox based in Asheville, NC, where she was born and raised. Her lifelong connection to the Western North Carolina landscape informs her approach to planning and design and drives her commitment to work that is both ecologically sound and deeply rooted in place. She specializes in integrating natural and cultural assets into sustainable planning and design, with experience spanning parks and greenways, outdoor recreation planning, ecological restoration, stormwater design, and regional planning. As both a project manager and key contributor, Megan has led large-scale planning, site plans, and designs for public open spaces that thoughtfully balance human recreation with natural resource stewardship — always with an eye toward landscape resilience, community engagement, and sustainability. Passionate about advancing the landscape architecture profession, Megan has served as Mountain Section Chair for NCASLA for the past two years, fostering collaboration and advocacy among practitioners across the region. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the trails and ridgelines of WNC with her husband, two children, and two dogs.

Megan is currently serving as the Mountain Section Chair since 2023.

BARBARA BARNES, HDR

Barbara is a Senior Landscape Architect based in Raleigh, North Carolina with over 20 years of experience in project management, consultant coordination, and fiscal oversight across a wide range of public and private projects. Her professional work emphasizes responsible budgeting, clear documentation, and fiscal responsibility for her clients and company; skills that transfer well to the Treasurer position. As a Project Manager she is responsible for complex project budgets and ensuring accurate financial tracking from planning through implementation. Barbara’s work requires accountability, transparency, and responsible decision-making.

SAHAR TEYMOURI, CLINE DESIGN ASSOCIATES

Sahar is a Landscape Architect at Cline Design Associates in Raleigh, where she collaborates with the firm’s landscape architecture team on mixed-use residential, adaptive reuse, and urban design and planning projects. The team’s work emphasizes landscape architecture as a central element in bringing life, nature, and vibrancy to spaces of all scales. Since 2017, Sahar has been involved with ASLA and NCASLA, contributing to various committees.


TRUSTEE

ZAK PIERCE, CLH Design

Zak Pierce is CEO of CLH design, a landscape architecture and civil engineering firm in Cary, NC. He oversees the company’s business development efforts, client experience, and long-term vision for the company. As both a licensed landscape architect and LEED AP professional, he is committed to promoting environmental awareness and conservation through safe, functional, and meaningful designs. Zak has been an active member of the North Carolina Chapter of ASLA for 19 years and works diligently to advocate for the profession. His roles have included volunteering on several long-range and conference planning committees, serving as NCASLA Chapter President, ASLA Chapter Presidents Council Chair, and as a member of the ASLA Leadership Development Committee. Zak has served as the NCASLA Trustee for the past three years. During this time, he has proudly represented NCASLA at the national level, building strong relationships with ASLA Staff and the ASLA Executive Committee, while actively participating in ASLA Town Hall and Board of Trustee meetings. He has remained committed to ensuring NCASLA’s voice is heard. Trustees can only serve two consecutive terms. Zak would be honored to serve a second, and final, term as NCASLA Trustee.

Zak is currently serving as Trustee for NCASLA 2023-2025, NCASLA Constitution and Bylaws Committee Chair - National ASLA - Constitution and Bylaws Committee Member


MEMBER AT LARGE - COMMUNICATIONS

MARK HEINICKE, CITY OF RALEIGH PARKS AND RECREATION

Mark Heinicke is a Capital Projects Manager for the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. He helps shape the future of Raleigh’s greenways, parks and public spaces and leads projects from planning and design through construction while working closely with communities, consultants and city teams. Focus areas include the Capital Area Greenway Program, the Greenway Master plan, and other citywide efforts that improve connectivity and expand access.

Mark is a CLARB-Certified Landscape Architect and CPRP Professional with over three decades of experience in planning, site design, capital project management construction and construction administration. He has worked on a wide variety of projects for various sized public agencies throughout the Midwest, Southeast and now North Carolina.

As a full member of ASLA since 1991, he was actively involved with the SKILL | Ed Practice Management Institute Committee (2022-23), Public Practice Advisory Committee (2020-22), Parks & Recreation PPN Leadership (2020). He also served as Illinois Chapter ASLA Fellowship / Social Events Chair (1995-96).

Mark has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University and a Master of Public Administration from Florida International University and is licensed to practice landscape architecture in Illinois, Texas, and soon in North Carolina.


CHARLOTTE SECTION CHAIR

JACK SCHULTZ, BOLTON & MENK

Jack Schultz is a Landscape Designer at Bolton & Menk in Charlotte, North Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University in 2024 and grew up in Buffalo, New York. After graduating, Jack relocated to Charlotte to gain professional experience in a rapidly growing city. At Bolton & Menk, Jack works with a talented team of professionals, contributing to a wide range of landscape architecture projects while continuing to develop his technical and design skills. He plans to begin the LARE licensure process in late 2026. Jack is passionate about advancing as a designer and is focused on strengthening his business development skills as part of his long-term career growth. He is also highly social and enjoys connecting with others in the profession, regularly attending industry events and engaging with the broader landscape architecture community. In addition to his design work, Jack is actively involved in his workplace, serving as captain of the company volleyball team, leading a Parking Day installation, and contributing to the office culture committee.

KIMBERLY BARB, STIMMEL ASSOCIATES

Kimberly has over 37 years of experience as a Senior Project Manager and currently serves as the Director of Landscape Architecture at Stimmel Associates an LA/Civil firm with offices in Winston Salem & Charlotte. A 1988 graduate of NCSU School of Design, she has served on the Public Relations Committee and as Secretary for NCASLA in the past.
