We had a wonderful turnout of both legislators and practitioners for our annual NCASLA Legislative Breakfast. We all shared the values our profession brings as well as learned about state government and how we can all work together toward health, safety, and well beign of the public.

NCBLA Student Scholarships for NCASLA Conference in June

NCBLA is providing opportunities for North Carolina students of Landscape Architecgture to attend the 2018 NCASLA Conference + Expo

NCASLA Educational Scholarship Application

The NC Board of Landscape Architects will award ten (10) $100 educational scholarships to those students currently enrolled in a landscape architecture or horticulture program at a NC University to attend the 2018 NCASLA Conference + Expo, June 20-22, 2018 in Durham, NC. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates are required to produce proof of attendance in order to receive payment. Please return this form along with supporting documentation by June 15, 2018. You should register direct with NC ASLA. Early bird (by May 30, 2018) student registration fee is $75.00. Scholarship payment will be mailed direct to applicant by June 30, 2018.

The following positions are open for this election period and will be on the ballot later this summer: 

President Elect (1 year term)

This position leads the conference planning committee and is automatically followed by a one year term as President and a one year term as Past President. The President Elect, President, and Past President also attend the national conference and national leadership training workshops known as Chapter Presidents Council. The President-Elect shall be a Full Member.

 

Treasurer (2 year term)

This position is in charge of collection all fees, dues, charges, and other funds due the Chapter; be the custodian of all Chapter funds and disburse such funds only as authorized by the Executive Committee; keep the accounts of the Chapter that shall be open at all times to inspection by the Executive Committee; present quarterly reports on the financial condition of the Chapter and year-end financial statements to the Executive Committee; and perform such other duties as are customary for the office of chapter treasurer or as may be assigned or delegated by the president. The Treasurer shall be a Full or Associate Member.

 

Member At Large - Awards (2 year term)

This position serves to the Chapter professional, special and student awards program. The Member At Large - awards shall be a Full or Associate Member.

 

Member At Large - Public Relations (2 year term)

The Member at Large for Public Relations shall: oversee and coordinate the communications for the Chapter.  This individual will work closely with the Association Manager, the President and other Executive Committee members to generate communications to the profession through the use of the E-News, the NCASLA website and social media.  He or She will work to increase public awareness of the landscape architecture profession through press releases, media advisory and social media. The Member at Large - Public Relations shall be a Full or Associate Member.

 

Associate Member At Large - Membership  (2 year term)

This position serves to represent the associate membership of the Chapter and be responsible for Chapter continuing education programs and updating the Chapter Operations Handbook. The Member At Large - Membership shall be an Associate Member at the time of running for the position.

 

Charlotte Section Chair (2  year term)

This position coordinates educational and social events in the Charlotte region of the NC Chapter, and he/she makes sure NC and national correspondence is reaching the members in that region. The Section Chairs shall be a Full or Associate Member.

 

Triad Section Chair (2 year term)

This position coordinates educational and social events in the Triad region of the NC Chapter, and he/she makes sure NC and national correspondence is reaching the members in that region. The Section Chairs shall be a Full or Associate Member.

 

Triangle Section Chair (2 year term)

This position coordinates educational and social events in the Triangle region of the NC Chapter, and he/she makes sure NC and national correspondence is reaching the members in that region.The Section Chairs shall be a Full or Associate Member.

Southeast Regional Conference 2017

Uptown Charlotte.

North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina Chapters of the American Society of Landscape Architects for the ASLA Southeast Regional Conference.  The Conference was held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 thru Saturday, June 10, 2017.  Events were held at the Charlotte Convention Center and the Embassy Suites Uptown Charlotte, NC.

Call for proposals - 2018 Conference on the Value of Play: The Many Faces of Play

The US Play Coalition is now accepting proposals for Educational Sessions, Poster Presentations and the Play Research Symposium at the 2018 Conference on the Value of Play: The Many Faces of Play.  The conference will be held April 8-11, 2018 at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina.  “The Many Faces of Play” will explore play from across the globe and address universal issues of access, accessibility, inclusion and more.

At the Conference on the Value of Play, we have long relied on scholars, practitioners and industry leaders to share their expertise on various aspects of play. Submit your application to present in one of the following theme tracks(detailed on the call website):

  • International/Global Play
  • Multi/Intergenerational & Adults at Play
  • Accessible & Inclusive Play
  • Health, Recreation & Play
  • Nature Based & Outdoor Play
  • Education & Play
