Greetings NCASLA Members!
With the recent annual meeting of ASLA held in New Orleans this year, roles on the NCASLA Executive Committee are changing. I’m honored to serve as President for 2025–2026. First, I want to thank everyone who has served in NCASLA over the past 50 years since the chapter's founding, helping to keep our profession strong. They have set high expectations and shown how NCASLA can best serve our members across our great state. Working in Cary, I have met many landscape architects within our state, but being engaged with NCASLA has introduced me to even more, and it’s exciting to hear what everyone is working on. As our vision states, our goal is to create healthy, beautiful, and resilient places for all. From my conversations with many of you, I know this is what you do.
Please stay alert for events you can attend this coming year, including the 2026 ASLA Southeast Regional Conference starting on May 30. The theme is: Rising Together: Innovation and Stewardship for a Changing Southeast. Many other events are also organized throughout the year by our section chairs. Be sure to check your email for updates or visit the event calendar on the chapter website where some upcoming lectures are occurring at NCSU.
It has also been fun to see what our Emerging Professionals are doing and what help they need to become licensed. NCASLA is a leader among other ASLA chapters in promoting landscape architecture to the next generation by reaching out to the K-12 segment. We are fortunate to have two universities with landscape architecture programs. This includes NCA&T's undergraduate program and NCSU's graduate program.
We are always seeking good volunteers and will need more soon. If you're interested in learning more, please contact us at info@ncasla.org. While our licensure situation seems stable, we never know when issues might arise, and we're lucky to have a strong lobbyist. Additionally, we maintain a good relationship with the NC Board of Landscape Architecture.
So whether your looking for some camaraderie, continuing education, career opportunities or just want to ensure your licensure is protected please follow NCASLA.
Hope to see you soon.
Paul Kuhn, PLA, ASLA
NCASLA Chapter President 2025-2026
